Cambridge Dictionary states Supervision as “the act of watching a person or activity and making certain that everything is done correctly, safely, etc.” The profession of Counselling and Psychotherapy also needs its share of Supervision to keep the field scientific as well as to ensure the safety of the users.
Though a good number of psychologists / counsellors are being added to the field, only a few places provided a supervised practicum (around 200 hours) to help them apply their knowledge to help clients/patients, under the watchful eyes of trained / experienced Supervisors. In training programs that lack adequate supervision, trained graduate students struggle with the lack of skills or at times even confidence to fulfil their job roles.
ORAH Rehabilitation Assessment Counselling and Psychological Services provides individual and group supervision to help trainees and early counsellors to make this transition into a full grown and effective professional. Even for those in the field for some time, on-going supervision is fast becoming more of a need than a luxury.
